Drone Rules for Lagoa do Peri
Open with Limitations (No Coordination Required up to 40 meters / 130 feet) Lagoa do Peri (Florianópolis, SC) operates within the open regulatory airspace under DECEA's ICA 100-40 framework. Drone flights are permitted without prior DECEA coordination, provided the aircraft stays at or below 40 meters (130 feet).
Lagoa do Peri is a large freshwater lagoon surrounded by dense Atlantic Forest in the southern region of Florianópolis. Because it is located well away from the busy approach and departure paths of Florianópolis International Airport (FLN) and sits in a highly spacious, low-density area, its physical boundaries are extremely straightforward to navigate. This makes it an ideal, hassle-free location for clear polygonal mapping and straightforward drone flights compared to complex, narrow urban corridors.
While the airspace itself is wide open and highly accessible up to 40 meters without pre-scheduling, the lagoon is situated within a municipal nature park. Pilots must ensure they do not harass or film local wildlife, such as the endangered broad-snouted caimans or native bird species inhabiting the shores. The vast open water surface provides excellent clear line-of-sight (VLOS) conditions, but operators should remain mindful of typical lake wind shears and avoid flying too close to the forested hillsides where GPS signals could occasionally be obstructed.
