Posting Guidelines
DroneMap works best when pilots contribute accurate, useful, and respectful information. These guidelines apply to reviews, rule edits, restrictions, discussion posts, photos, videos, and other community submissions.
Reviews
Reviews should be authentic content you own and should describe real experiences you personally had at the flying spot. Share details that would help another pilot decide whether the location is safe, legal, respectful, and worth visiting.
- Only post reviews based on genuine first-hand experiences.
- Use your own words and only upload photos or videos you own or have permission to use.
- Mention practical details such as access, parking, crowds, launch/landing areas, signal issues, nearby hazards, and time-of-day considerations.
- Do not post fake reviews, copied reviews, promotional spam, harassment, personal attacks, or content that invades someone’s privacy.
Rules, restrictions, and edits
Rule and restriction submissions should be genuine, data-backed, and source-supported. When you add or edit rules, include enough context for moderators and other pilots to verify the change.
- Use official or reliable sources when possible, such as FAA/B4UFLY/LAANC resources, park pages, municipal codes, venue policies, posted signage, or property-owner guidance.
- Include source URLs, screenshots, photos of posted rules, or clear notes explaining where the information came from.
- Separate airspace restrictions from ground/property rules whenever possible.
- Be precise about dates, boundaries, permit requirements, seasonal closures, altitude limits, launch bans, and exceptions.
- Do not guess. If the information is uncertain, say what is uncertain and provide the best available source.
Discussion posts
Discussions are for improving the map, asking for clarification, and resolving edits. Keep posts constructive and tied to the relevant place, rule, restriction, review, or edit.
- Explain what you believe should change and why.
- Reference sources or field observations when discussing rules or restrictions.
- Stay respectful. Do not harass, insult, threaten, dox, or target other users.
- Avoid off-topic arguments, duplicate threads, spam, and unsupported claims.
Photos, videos, and copyrighted content
- Only upload media you created, own, or have permission to share.
- Do not upload private, sensitive, illegal, or unsafe footage.
- Avoid showing identifying details of private people, homes, vehicles, or restricted facilities unless you have permission and a legitimate safety reason.
- Do not copy text, photos, maps, or documents from another site unless you have permission or are using a short attributed excerpt as allowed by law.
Moderation
DroneMap may approve, deny, edit, hide, or remove submissions that violate these guidelines, appear inaccurate, lack adequate support, or create legal, safety, privacy, or abuse concerns. Repeated misuse may result in account limits or removal.
When a submission is approved, denied, or needs attention, DroneMap may notify you based on your notification settings.
