The airfield primarily serves private executive aviation, government transport, border security missions, and critical emergency medical evacuation (aeromedical) flights. Additionally, due to its location in a highly productive agricultural hub, the surrounding airspace sees frequent, low-altitude operations from agricultural spraying aircraft. The airport is situated along Avenida Senador Salgado Filho, integrated into São Borja's urban and transport network. Because aircraft execute landing and takeoff procedures at low altitudes directly over transit routes, residential neighborhoods, and nearby rural areas, any uncoordinated drone activity poses an immediate and severe threat to aviation safety.
