Drone Rules for Upington International Airport
- High frequency of commercial and cargo aircraft traffic - ATC approval required for drone operations - Flight Plan and/or FUA approval may be required - Maximum altitude generally 120m / 400ft AGL unless approved
Upington International Airport serves as an important regional and international aviation hub in the Northern Cape. Due to regular airline, cargo, and cross-border traffic, the surrounding controlled airspace should be treated as a sensitive aviation environment. Drone pilots operating within or near the CTR must coordinate with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and comply with SACAA Part 101 regulations before conducting operations.
