Summary

Heavy restrictions on drone flight 5km around the airport, and flight withing the Geneva CTR is heavily prohibited without permission. No-fly near the runways without approval. Any flight close to GVA is treated as a case-by-case approval only.

The 5km radius around the airport is restricted, usually requiring pre-approval from either, but not limited to the FOCA (Federal Office of Swiss Aviation), Airport Authority of GVA (Skyguide), and Cantonal authorities. Drone flight close to, or in the Controlled airspace of GVA is very strict, always requiring pre-approval to fly, especially near the runways. In addition, make sure to always adhere to Switzerland's 120m maximum drone altitude rule.
