Sepé Tiaraju Airport (SBNM) is a primary regional aviation hub located in Santo Ângelo, serving the northwest (Missões) region of Rio Grande do Sul. The airport handles daily scheduled commercial flights operated by mainline passenger jets and regional turboprops, connecting the region directly to major domestic hubs, alongside steady private corporate flights and medical evacuation missions.

The airfield is situated near key regional highways and the expanding urban fringes of Santo Ângelo. Because commercial airliners and executive aircraft execute instrument and visual approaches at low altitudes directly over the surrounding terrain during final landing and takeoff phases, uncoordinated drone activity poses an immediate and severe threat to flight safety. Spontaneous or recreational drone flights within the airfield perimeter or its active traffic corridors are completely banned under federal law (Brazilian Penal Code, Art. 261).

Regulatory Authorities: DECEA, ANAC, and the Government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (or contracted operator).

Primary Framework: ICA 100-40 (DECEA) and Article 261 of the Brazilian Penal Code.

Flight Planning Portal: Operational safety grids and airspace restrictions are managed via SARPAS NG and Aisweb.
