The airfield sits close to major local highways and expanding urban-industrial borders. Because aircraft operate at low altitudes under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) directly over the surrounding terrain during landing approaches and takeoffs, uncoordinated drone activity creates an immediate threat to flight safety. Spontaneous or recreational drone flights within the airfield perimeter or its active traffic patterns are completely banned under federal law (Brazilian Penal Code, Art. 261).
