Foz do Iguaçu International Airport (SBFI), managed by CCR Aeroportos, is a high-traffic international gateway in Paraná, located near the borders of Argentina and Paraguay. The airport handles a constant flow of large commercial passenger jets and is adjacent to intensive low-altitude tourist helicopter flight paths over the Iguaçu Falls. Because commercial aircraft and helicopters constantly operate at low altitudes over surrounding highways, national parks, and urban boundaries, uncoordinated drone flights present a severe threat to flight safety. Spontaneous or recreational drone operations within the airfield perimeter, approach corridors, or nearby protected environmental zones are completely banned under federal law (Brazilian Penal Code, Art. 261). Regulatory Authorities: DECEA, ANAC, and CCR Aeroportos. Primary Framework: ICA 100-40 (DECEA) and Article 261 of the Brazilian Penal Code. Flight Planning Portal: Operational safety grids and international border airspace restrictions are managed via SARPAS NG and Aisweb.
