Prefeito Dr. João Silva Filho International Airport (SBPB) is a strategic airport located in Parnaíba, serving the northern coastal region of Piauí and acting as a primary gateway to the famous Route of Emotions (Rota das Emoções), including the Parnaíba Delta and Jericoacoara. The airport handles scheduled commercial jet and turboprop flights operated by major Brazilian airlines, as well as private executive aircraft, tourist charters, and government missions.

The airfield is situated near major urban avenues and key highways connecting the city center to the coast. Because commercial airliners and regional aircraft execute instrument (IFR) and visual (VFR) approaches at low altitudes directly over the city's urban fringes and surrounding tourist corridors, uncoordinated drone activity creates an immediate and severe hazard to flight safety. Spontaneous or recreational drone flights within the airfield perimeter or its active traffic patterns are completely banned under federal law (Brazilian Penal Code, Art. 261).

Regulatory Authorities: DECEA, ANAC, and the airport's concessionaire (Infraero / State Administration).

Primary Framework: ICA 100-40 (DECEA) and Article 261 of the Brazilian Penal Code.

Flight Planning Portal: Operational safety grids, local VFR corridors, and airspace restrictions are managed via SARPAS NG and Aisweb.
