Itaituba Airport (SBIH) is a highly strategic regional airfield located in southwest Pará, acting as a crucial transport hub for the Transamazônica region and the Tapajós river basin. It supports a constant flow of regional commercial turboprops, air taxis, and logistics flights serving remote communities and local economic sectors.

Because the airfield is situated near urban neighborhoods and the Tapajós River, aircraft navigate low-altitude visual approaches and departures directly over surrounding communities and waterways. Due to the high volume of small aircraft and unscheduled air taxi operations, uncoordinated drone activity poses an immediate threat to flight safety. Spontaneous or recreational drone flights within the airfield perimeter or its active traffic patterns are completely banned under federal law (Brazilian Penal Code, Art. 261).

Regulatory Authorities: DECEA, ANAC, and the Municipal Administration of Itaituba.

Primary Framework: ICA 100-40 (DECEA) and Article 261 of the Brazilian Penal Code.

Flight Planning Portal: Operational safety grids and airspace restrictions are managed via SARPAS NG and Aisweb.
