Drone Rules for Aeroporto Internacional de Belém
Critical No-Fly Zone covering Belém International Airport (SBBE). All unauthorized drone flights are strictly prohibited within this airspace to eliminate collision risks with heavy commercial aircraft, regional turboprops, and military flights. Only exceptional operations with explicit DECEA clearance via SARPAS.
Belém International Airport (SBBE), managed by Norte da Amazônia Airports (NOA), is the main aviation gateway to the Brazilian Amazon. It handles a high volume of domestic flights, international routes, and serves as a vital logistics hub for regional connection flights and air taxis linking remote locations across northern Brazil.
The airport is closely integrated with the urban layout of Belém and sits adjacent to the Guajará Bay. Because commercial jets and regional aircraft fly at low altitudes directly over dense residential neighborhoods, busy avenues, and water transit routes during their final approaches and initial climbs, uncoordinated drone activity poses an immediate and severe hazard to flight safety. Spontaneous or recreational drone flights within the airfield perimeter, its traffic circuits, or its approach corridors are completely banned under federal law (Brazilian Penal Code, Art. 261).
Regulatory Authorities: DECEA, ANAC, and NOA Airports.
Primary Framework: ICA 100-40 (DECEA) and Article 261 of the Brazilian Penal Code.
Flight Planning Portal: Operational safety grids, mandatory geofencing zones, and airspace restrictions are managed via SARPAS NG and Aisweb.
