The airspace over and surrounding the Irapé Hydroelectric Power Plant (UHE Irapé - Usina Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek) (Berilo / Grão Mogol, MG) is classified as a Critical National Infrastructure Protection Zone. Civilian drone flights are strictly prohibited directly over the main checkpoint (Portaria).

The Usina Hidrelétrica de Irapé, located in the Jequitinhonha Valley region of Minas Gerais near Berilo and the district of Lelivéldia, is a major engineering marvel. It features the highest dam wall in Brazil, standing at \(682\text{ ft}\) (\(208\text{ m}\)) tall. Managed by CEMIG (Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais), the plant handles critical high-capacity electricity generation and water resource management for the state.

To legally operate a drone in the open buffer zones near the Irapé dam, pilots must obtain explicit formal authorization from CEMIG, register the equipment with ANAC, secure mandatory third-party liability insurance, and file a formal flight plan via DECEA's SARPAS NG portal. Unauthorized operators face immediate detention by facility security or local law enforcement, equipment seizure, and federal prosecution for endangering essential public utilities.
