Barreiras Airport (SNBR) is a highly strategic regional airport located in Western Bahia, serving as the main aviation hub for a vast region driven by large-scale agribusiness. The airport experiences a steady volume of daily scheduled commercial passenger flights, private corporate turboprops, air taxis, and critical emergency aeromedical flights. The airfield is situated on a plateau overlooking the urban area and major federal highways (such as the BR-020 and BR-135). Because commercial turboprops and executive flights execute low-altitude instrument (IFR) and visual (VFR) approaches directly over the surrounding terrain and expanding urban sectors, uncoordinated drone activity poses an immediate and severe threat to flight safety. Spontaneous or recreational drone flights within the airfield perimeter or its active traffic patterns are completely banned under federal law (Brazilian Penal Code, Art. 261). Regulatory Authorities: DECEA, ANAC, and the Government of the State of Bahia. Primary Framework: ICA 100-40 (DECEA) and Article 261 of the Brazilian Penal Code. Flight Planning Portal: Operational safety grids and airspace restrictions are managed via SARPAS NG and Aisweb.
