Drone Rules for Eirunepé Airport
All unauthorized drone flights are strictly prohibited within this airspace to eliminate catastrophic collision risks with regional commercial flights, medical evacuation missions, and essential logistical supply transports. Only exceptional operations with explicit DECEA clearance via SARPAS NG are permitted.
The Eirunepé Airport (ICAO: SWEI), officially known as Amaury Feitosa Tomaz Airport and located in the municipality of Eirunepé, Amazonas, serves as a vital logistical and socioeconomic lifeline for the isolated Juruá river basin region. Because overland transit to this part of the Amazon is heavily restricted by geography, the airfield acts as a primary connection point, accommodating scheduled regional passenger operations (including commercial turboprops like the ATR 72), essential supply cargo cargo flights, and urgent aeromedical air ambulance services.
Because aircraft operating in this remote interior hub execute low-altitude visual flight rules (VFR) traffic patterns and instrument (RNP) approaches directly over the surrounding riverbanks, transport corridors, and urban edges, uncoordinated drone activity creates an immediate mid-air collision hazard. An accident within this restricted zone would severely disrupt public safety and cut off emergency access for an isolated community. Therefore, spontaneous or recreational drone flights within the airfield perimeter, its obstacle limitation surfaces, or its designated security grids are completely prohibited under federal law (Brazilian Penal Code, Art. 261).
