Drone Rules for Aeroporto Palmeiras do Javari
All unauthorized drone flights are strictly prohibited within this airspace to eliminate catastrophic collision risks with military transport fleets, border surveillance operations, and tactical supply missions. Only exceptional operations with explicit DECEA clearance via SARPAS NG are permitted.
The Palmeiras do Javari Airport (ICAO: SWJV), situated in the highly isolated western border region of Atalaia do Norte, Amazonas, is an infrastructure asset of vital significance for Brazil's national security and sovereign defense. Positioned deep within the Amazon rainforest along the Javari River valley (bordering Peru), this airfield primarily services the Brazilian Armed Forces, explicitly supporting the local Special Border Platoon (PEF). It acts as a lifeline for tactical surveillance, border patrol operations, and the delivery of critical medical and logistical provisions to both military personnel and native communities.
Because regional transport and tactical military aircraft operate under visual flight rules (VFR) at low altitudes during takeoff, landing, and maneuvering directly over the dense forest canopies and river boundaries, any uncoordinated drone activity within this high-security airspace establishes an immediate mid-air collision hazard. An aviation incident here would directly compromise frontier defense lines and life-saving transport networks. Consequently, spontaneous or recreational drone flights within the airfield perimeter, its obstacle limitation surfaces, or its designated security grids are completely prohibited under federal law (Brazilian Penal Code, Art. 261).
