Drone Rules for Freycinet National Park

Gray, Tasmania (TAS) • Australia
Gray TAS 7215, Australia
Lat: -42.1998 • Lng: 148.32
Ground Not allowed Last updated: May 31, 2026

Recreational drone use is strictly prohibited across all Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service lands, including Freycinet National Park, with exemptions granted only via formal, pre-approved commercial or research permits.

Recreational drone usage is strictly prohibited within Freycinet National Park and all other reserved lands managed by the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service. This ban is in place to protect the privacy and safety of visitors, preserve the natural peace of the park, and prevent the disturbance of local wildlife—particularly nesting shorebirds and raptors. Exceptions are only made for pre-approved commercial filming, official events, or scientific research, all of which require a formal permit obtained well in advance.
