Lat: -27.1394 • Lng: 153.404
Air Permission required Last updated: Jun 16, 2026

An authorisation is required for commercial operations. Recreational flying is permitted for drones weighing less than 2kg. A permit is required for drones weighing more than 2kg.

Flying drones in Queensland’s parks and forests can affect visitors’ experience and privacy, and disturb native wildlife, particularly birds. Drones may also impact on sensitive areas where First Nations peoples’ cultural heritage exists.

As well as meeting CASA rules, you may need a permit from the Queensland Government to use a drone on a park or forest:

  • for commercial purposes—including commercial or promotional filming
  • for research purposes
  • for a drone that is more than 2 kilograms in size.
