Heckscher State Park

This spot is really good for smoother flying compared to the ocean-facing beaches because it sits along the calmer Great South Bay. The drone generally handles more steadily here since wind conditions are often lighter, especially closer to the tree lines and inland fields. It’s a great place for slow cinematic orbit shots over the water, revealing boats, marsh edges, and shoreline curves in a controlled way. You can also do wide establishing shots that capture both the parkland and the bay in one frame, which gives your footage more depth than a straight beach scene. Sunset flights here are especially nice because the bay water often reflects the sky, giving you clean mirror-like colors with less turbulence to fight against.
